SN 29500 - Siemens

The SN 29500 Standard is an essential resource for reliability calculations of electronic components used in harsh environments. This standard provides up-to-date failure rate data at reference conditions and stress models that are crucial for parts count and parts stress predictions. These reference conditions are typical for the majority of applications of components in equipment.

In cases where the operating conditions differ significantly from reference conditions, the SN 29500 Standard serves as a basis for converting the failure rate data at reference conditions to the actual operating conditions. With an increasing demand for reliability calculations, customers require demonstration of the reliability of subassemblies and units of equipment. The failure rate, which is the most commonly used characteristic in determining reliability, is specified in the individual parts of the SN 29500 Standard and is used by Siemens AG and Siemens companies as a uniform basis for reliability predictions.

Furthermore, this standard contains the underlying conditions for which the component failure rates apply, known as reference conditions. When failure rates are stated or values from different sources are compared, reference to such conditions is necessary. In summary, the SN 29500 Standard provides valuable information for reliability calculations and is an important resource for the electronics industry.

The basis for the definition of the reference conditions and the conversion models for failure rates depending on the stress conditions is the lEC 61709. The stress models described in this standard are used as a basis for conversion of the failure rate data at reference conditions to the actual operating conditions.
